Good day everyone, some will ask
why the topic, and I will say it is
really necessary to talk on this
This has been the talk of the
town for many years now, in
most Nigerian communities they
will tell you all sorts of stories
about the football match
between Nigeria and India in the
early 1900s
It started this way “that there
was a football match between
India and Nigeria and Nigeria
was loosing to India 99-0, I
mean how is that possible ,is it a
fiction or a true event. Most
Nigerians believed that the
Indian football player played the
match without football boots and
that they used some kind of
voodoo powers in playing
against Nigeria which made
them successful in their goal
scores
As a child I was made to believe
this and I ended up looking at
the whole of India as people
who practice magic and voodoo
but today that I’ve found out the
real truth behind the story which
went on like a wild fire in some
parts of Nigeria. I say am sorry to
the Indians.
Some people I’ve asked about the
story will tell me that at the
dyeing minute to match ending
that the Indians told the
Nigerians that if they could score
one goal that they have won, at
this juncture I was made to
believe that sam okparaji saw the
ball coming to him and when he
kicked it , that the ball turned to a
palm frond which led to his
death. And this led FIFA to ban
India from playing football
But today I found out the truth
and want to share is india has
never played against Nigeria. And
they have qualified once for
world cup in the year 1950 and
refused may be due to financial
problems participate and since
then they haven’t qualified for
world cup.
