THE GATE MAN OR THE MALE CHEF EPISODE 2 FINAL Linda could not sleep that night. She tossed around her bed thinking of the words her friend Gift had told her. What if I sleep with one of my house help? The gate man… or the male chef? The thought refused to leave her mind. Obinna, her husband, was already snoring peacefully, while Linda stared at the ceiling with tears rolling down her cheeks. --- The following day, she watched the two men in her house carefully. The gate man, Uche, was a tall, strong man from a poor family. He respected Linda and often called her Madam. The male chef, Bayo, was younger, handsome, and always smiling whenever he served food. Linda’s heart beat fast each time she looked at them. How do I even do this? How do I choose? She whispered to herself. --- One evening, while Obinna was away on a business trip, Bayo, the chef, brought food to Linda in her room. “Madam, here is your dinner,” Bayo said, placing the tray on the table. Linda looked at him deeply, and before she realized it, her tears dropped. “Why are you crying, Madam?” he asked softly. Linda couldn’t hold it anymore. She told him everything — her forced marriage, her childlessness, and her fear of losing her husband. Bayo was silent for a long time. Then he said: “Madam, I respect you… but if this is the only way to save your marriage, I will not refuse you.” That night, Linda betrayed her vows. --- Months passed… Linda missed her period. She quickly went for a test — and it was positive. Her heart raced. She told Obinna with fake joy: “Honey, I am pregnant! At last, God has answered us!” Obinna hugged her tightly with tears of happiness. His mother danced in the compound, praising the gods for blessing her son at last. Obinna spent money lavishly, showering Linda with gifts and care. --- Nine months later, Linda gave birth to a bouncing baby boy. Everyone rejoiced, and Obinna named the child Chibuzor. But deep in Linda’s heart, she knew the truth — the child was not Obinna’s. --- Two years later, disaster struck. The boy grew and looked exactly like Bayo the chef — his smile, his eyes, even his dimples. Whispers began in the compound. The villagers noticed. Even Obinna’s mother started frowning. One evening, Obinna’s mother confronted him: “My son, open your eyes. This child does not look like you. He looks like your chef!” Obinna laughed it off at first, but doubt entered his heart. That same week, Obinna secretly carried the boy for a DNA test. The result broke him into pieces — the child was not his. --- Obinna returned home with fire in his eyes. “Linda!!! Tell me the truth… WHO IS THE FATHER OF THIS CHILD?” he roared. Linda fell on her knees, crying. “I am sorry… It was Bayo… I didn’t want to lose you. I was desperate. Please forgive me!” Obinna’s heart shattered. “You have brought shame to my name. You and your son must leave this house immediately!” Linda begged and cried, but Obinna’s mother threw her out alongside the little boy. Bayo, the chef, had already disappeared from the village, leaving her alone with her mistake. --- Linda returned to her father’s compound, rejected and broken. Her father, who once forced her into marriage, now wept bitterly. “My daughter, I thought I was securing your future. But I destroyed it instead…” Linda carried her son in her arms and looked at the sky. “Sometimes, the choices we make in desperation only lead to greater sorrow.” THE END ©️ Follow me Walex's Stories MORALS LESSON Never force your child into marriage, wealth is not everything. Lies and betrayal may seem like solutions, but truth will always come out. Patience is better than desperation |
