Gameplay

Minecraft Legends is a real-time action strategy video game. It has strategy elements at its core, but its mechanics are inspired by the immersion of action games. It takes place in the
Minecraft Overworld that is described to be a familiar yet in-many-ways-new Overworld. It is explored in a third-person perspective. The player will defend villager settlements and fight hordes of piglins to stop the spread of their Nether corruption and repel their invasion into the Overworld. The player will be the center of every battle they lead, fighting alongside their allies while giving them directions. They will form alliances with enemy Overworld mobs such as zombie villagers to lead into battle as allies to help desend the Overworld. The game will have a single-player campaign along with an online campaign co-op and competitive multiplayer.

Plot
Minecraft Legends takes place in the
Minecraft universe during an invasion by the piglins from the Nether. The Nether spreads its corruption across the Overworld. A great hero raises their banner to save the Overworld and bring together Overworld mobs to help defend their home. The events Legends take place in are neither fact nor fiction in the Minecraft universe, but rather take place in a tale that has been passed down through generations.
Release
The game was announced during the
Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase on June 12, 2022. [3] After the show, a trailer on the Minecraft YouTube channel confirmed additional platforms. [4] It is developed by series creators Mojang Studios in collaboration with Blackbird Interactive a team founded by former
Relic Entertainment employees, who are best known for developing the
Homeworld series of real-time strategy games.
Legends is currently planned to be released in the first half of 2023.
